Walk 2 Ag Ioannis Kotronaki and the Ag Marina spring
Skopelos to the abandoned monastery of Agios Ioannis Kotronaki and the Agia Marina spring and return.
Dont’ forget water, a snack and suntan lotion and you should wear a hat and good walking shoes with socks. Time needed: about 3 hours.
Starting point: The port entrance.
Start walking out of town and follow signs to Stafilos. The first part of the walk is on asphalt. You will pass two petrol stations and a supermarket with bright red colors. Just after that you will see a sign on your left saying Monastery of Agios Ioannis Kotronaki. Turn left here. Pic 1

Start walking on the dirt road and keep going up until you reach the beginning of a concrete road. Carry on straight and after a few meters the road forks with a dirtroad on your left. In the middle there is an electricity pole. Pic 2

Follow the dirt road to the left and keep walking up until you see on your right hand side a water reservoir.
On that same road, a little bit further, you will see the walls of the small abandoned monastery. Pic 3

The entrance to the monastery is a little bit further along.
Visit the monastery and walk further up the mountain to visit a beautiful spring.
Follow the dirt road that is along the monastery and walk up the mountain and don’t turn right or left. Only when you see a small chapel on a private property on your left hand side you turn left.
Keep climbing up. The views over Skopelos and the bay are fantastic.
You will reach the spring not along after that. Behind the spring is a small church and a couple of holiday houses. Walk back the same way as you came or turn left where you see the small chapel on your right hand side coming down.
