Right at the outset it has to be said that Skopelos is not always the easiest place to get to – and long may that be so.
It’s one of the reasons that has kept this island so very special in the days of mass tourism. Most travellers from Northern Europe will travel to Skaithos Airport on a charter flight and then take the fast ferries, slow boats or water taxis on to Skopelos. Others, from further afield, will arrive in Athens or maybe even Thessaloniki.
